PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Park District has announced summer cancelations due to COVID-19.
Illinois’s stay-at-home order due to COVID-19 has played havoc on local activity centers such as parks, playgrounds, and outdoor events.
During their board meeting Wednesday night, the Peoria Park District announced because of the toll of the coronavirus, various popular activities and events will have to be taken off the list this summer.
The first hit will be all Peoria public pools including RiverPlex pool.
Also canceled will be the annual July 3rd fireworks display at Glen Oak Park.
The Owens Center ice rink will remain closed as the ice has been removed.
The closing of the Peoria Zoo and Luthy Gardens were still in question.
Beginning Friday, golf courses are scheduled to reopen with restrictions as part of the state’s extended stay-at-home order.
