PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria-Tazewell-Woodford tri-county region has risen to 129 cases of COVID-19.
Peoria reported 79 total confirmed cases, Woodford had 12, and Tazewell was reporting 38.
There were no known new deaths.
20 ICU beds were in use for coronavirus: 11 for confirmed cases and nine cases under investigation for it, according to Peoria City/County Health Administrator Monica Hendrickson.
“In addition there are 34 non-ICU beds in use for either confirmed or under investigation for COVID-19,” Hendrickson said.
It’s been a week since Heartland Health Clinic began drive-thru testing. At that point, Peoria County had 44 cases.
Of the 35 confirmed cases in that time span, 45% were identified at the drive-thrus.
“As we increase community-based testing, we’re getting a better understanding of what that level of virus is in our communities,” Hendrickson said.
Hendrickson said that people are recovering from the virus.
“In fact 74% of individuals from the time they tested positive, four weeks out, will have recovered,” Hendrickson said.
Sixty-one percent of individuals have recovered between two to four weeks of testing positive, and 49% have recovered less than two weeks after testing positive.
