PEORIA, Ill. — Work-from-home job scams are popping up everywhere.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many people in the Peoria area have been laid off. Dave Johnson, with Pearl Technology, warns not to fall prey to a new work-from-home scam that’s surfaced.
“You can make $1,000 bucks a week. We’re going to send you a check for $3,000. You can buy some equipment from our vendor, so you don’t have to pay for the equipment up front. We’ll cover it for ya.”
Johnson told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, the scammer’s check of course will bounce, and you’ll be out $2,500 for a computer you will never get.
