CHICAGO — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Saturday announced 2,119 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 80 additional deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 41,777 cases, including 1,874 deaths, in 96 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years.
IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said during Gov. Pritzker’s daily briefing Saturday that ingesting household cleaners is not safe.
“Ingesting household cleaners is dangerous. It is not advised and can be deadly,” said Ezike. “In the past two days there’s been a significant increase in calls to the Illinois Poison Center compared to this same time last year associated with exposure to cleaning agents.”
At the beginning of his daily address Saturday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker reminded Illinoisans to fill out the 2020 Census.
“To make sure that you and all Illinoisans get your fair share of federal funding, and that you’re fully represented, please go online now to fill out your Census form at 2020Census.gov,” said Pritzker.
Pritzker also reminded Illinoisans about Call 4 Calm, an emotional support program.
“Anyone who would like to speak with a mental health professional can text TALK to 552020,” said Pritzker.
After texting the number, a call will be received from a certified mental health professional, according to Pritzker.
There is also a phone number and website for substance abuse disorder: 1-833-2FIND-HELP or helplineil.org.
