PEORIA, Ill. — Bradley University is eligible for $4.2 million in grant money from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.
Bradley Spokesperson and Executive Director of Public Relations, Renee Charles, said the university received approval for $2.1 million.
“That’s the student portion. So, we are determining the requirements on that now because the Department of Education has a lot of guidance and requirements on how we can actually spend that money,” Charles said.
Students must be Title IV eligible, according to Charles, which is general financial aid in order to receive a chunk of the funding.
“Then, on top of that, there are lots of other requirements that the students have to meet,” Charles said. “Then, if they meet those, they apply to receive a portion of that $2.1 million in grants.”
Bradley will apply for the other $2.1 million, which will go to the university.
“To pay for institutional costs of dealing with the pandemic. We will be applying for that in a few days,” Charles said.
BU is not given a check for the funding.
“We received approval that we have access to $2.1 million. But, the students have to actually apply for their own portion once we find out if they are eligible,” Charles said.
