PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department said the tri-county total of positive cases rose Friday to 45.
Peoria County had 21 and Tazewell had 17.
Woodford County remained at 7.
Five patients with confirmed cases were in area ICUs. Nine possible cases were in ICUS.
UnityPoint Health Dr. Samer Sader said all told, those numbers are promising.
“If you asked me [if I’m comfortable with the ICU numbers] 2 1/2 weeks ago, I probably would have said ‘ooh, it’s a little scary,’” he said.
“All the non-pharmacological approaches are probably making a difference to where we can handle it.”
Monica Hendrickson, Peoria City/County Health Department Administrator, continued to encourage people to stay home for Easter.
“Lots of our faith-based organizations are doing a great job connecting with social media and creating other mechanisms to have fellowship during this time of the year,” she said.
“And remember, this is really to protect those around you.
“It’s not just two people. We’re really talking about six people who might get infected.”
