PEORIA, Ill. — You can’t burn those leaves just yet.
The City of Peoria has issued a ban on opening burning. Yard waste, leaves, grass, tree limbs, and sticks can be put in approved containers for PDC pickup.
Small recreational camp fires are allowed, with some restrictions. The fires can be no larger than three feet in diameter, and only burn charcoal or dry, aged, natural wood. The fire should not be close to combustible materials and attended by an adult with extinguish equipment.
Outdoor cooking fires can be used in an outdoor cooking apparatus.
If you have a chimney or outdoor manufactured fireplace, also only burn dry, aged, natural wood or charcoal. They should have a non-tipping base, screen enclosure, spark arrestor, and located away from nearby structures.
