PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics responded to a fire Sunday morning at an apartment complex.
The crews responded to the fire at 8:36 a.m. at 2612 N. Hanssler Ct. to a report of smoke in the building.
Crews found heavy smoke coming from a garden level unit when they arrived, and initial fire crews were able to knock the fire down in five minutes.
There was moderate fire damage to the living room and heavy smoke damage throughout the apartment, said Battalion Chief Ralph Phillips.
The tenant was not present and could not be located. The occupant of the apartment above the fire was able to evacuate safely after being alerted by working smoke alarms.
There were no injuries reported.
