PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighter/paramedics were called out around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to 1615 N. Great Oak of a reported structure fire.
Crews arrived on the scene and discovered heavy black smoke from the roof in the rear of the two story townhouse.
According to Peoria Battalion Chief Rick Morgan, the fire was located on the second floor in the attic area, and peaked out of the ceiling of a bedroom.
The fire was quickly extinguished.
“Crews then ventilated the structure and doused water on hot-spots in the attic area to prevent fire to spread.” according to Chief Morgan.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters and civilians.
No one was home at the time of the blaze.
The fire in under investigation.
