PEORIA, Ill. — The tri-county COVID-19 positive case count has risen by one.
As of Wednesday’s Peoria City/County Health Department briefing, there were eight in Peoria. The new case, officials said, came from contact with a previously positive case.
Tazewell’s count remained at four, and Woodford at five.
Ten people were in ICU under investigation for coronavirus.
One person was in ICU who had tested positive.
In light of the White House’s projection 140,000-200,000 Americans could die from COVID-19, Dr. Gregg Stoner said he didn’t have local numbers on-hand, but he had seen them.
“It’s very sobering when you see those numbers,” he said.
The University of Washington projected 2,789 deaths in Illinois by Aug. 4.
