PEORIA, Ill. — A Saturday forecast of severe weather has meteorologists telling Central Illinois residents to hunker down.
News Partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins gave WMBD News a bleak prediction.
“A few strong tornadoes are possible [Saturday] afternoon as clusters of long lasting, fast moving rotating thunderstorms cut across the area,” he said.
“The time frame will range from 3 to 5 P.M. around Metro Peoria. Damaging winds of 60 to 70 miles per hour are also
possible along with golf ball sized hail.”
Even though Sunday looks to be more tame in terms of precipitation, Collins said it will still be blustery.
“Behind the system, strong non-thunderstorm winds will continue with 45 mile per hour gusts.”
