SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Wednesday announced 330 new cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including three deaths; a Kane County man in his 90s, a Cook County man in his 60s, and a Will County woman in her 50s.
Douglas, Marshall, and Morgan counties are now reporting cases. This brings the COVID-19 total to 1,865 cases in 35 counties in Illinois.
In addition, Tazewell County is reporting its first case of COVID-19. The individual is a man in his 70’s, and he is currently hospitalized.
Also among the new cases is two correctional officers and one man incarcerated at Stateville Correctional Center as well as a contractual worker at Sheridan Correctional Center. The two Stateville correctional officers are recovering at home and the individual who is incarcerated is isolated and recovering in the hospital. Those who have been identified as being potentially exposed are being quarantined and the facility is on a 14-day lockdown.
At Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s daily address, he announced the state will be pushing back the tax filing deadline to July 15 from April 15. This deadline now matches with the delayed federal tax filing deadline which is also July 15.
Pritzker also announced that relief is coming to small businesses.
“By Friday small businesses in Illinois will be eligible for a share of $90 million in State Emergency Assistance,” said Pritzker.
IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike again reminded Illinois residents that the pandemic will continue to get worse before it gets better.
