MAPLETON, Ill. — Caterpillar has temporarily shutdown its Mapleton plant due to a change in customer demand, not due to concerns related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
“We are taking a variety of actions at our global facilities to align production with customer demand, including temporary facility shutdowns at our Mapleton facility,” said Caterpillar Spokesperson Kate Young.
Over the weekend, Caterpillar announced it would continue operation at its Illinois facilities during Gov. Pritzker’s “Shelter in Place” order.
There is no word on how long the Mapleton facility will be closed.
