PEKIN, Ill. — Lesli Jett, 33, pleads not guilty for the death of a 4-year-old East Peoria boy.
Jett appeared in Tazewell County Court Thursday through video chat, and is facing three counts of first degree murder and one count of aggravated battery.
The three counts of murder include: one count of intent to kill, one count of intent to do great bodily harm, and one count of knowing the strong probability the actions would cause bodily harm or death.
Jett could spend up to a maximum of 100 years behind bars, and must serve the full sentence. She is looking to seek private council and will appear in court again on Thursday, April 9.
Jett is the girlfriend of 4-year-old Thurman’s father.
Thurman had bruises all over his body from his head, neck, abdomen, limbs, and scrotum. The child also had a broken clavicle.
