PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria City Hall is open for business.
Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich said at this point, City Hall will remain open. But, he told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, Peoria will likely start winding down the public’s interface with City Hall soon in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
“Just as a precautionary measure, as cases in the region pick up. And, they will. But, also as we start to plan for what happens in the eventuality that one of our employees gets sick,” Urich said.
As the situation evolves, Urich said public access to Peoria City Hall and the Peoria County Courthouse will be greatly impacted.
“Both the Court House and City Hall really funnel (people). We’re very concerned about our employees and the public,” Urich said.
Urich reminds Peoria residents that everyday issues can be reported to city officials through the peoria-cares app without having to come to City Hall.
Urich added, keeping the City’s first responders safe from COVID-19 is a huge concern. If exposed to the coronavirus on a call, fire companies and police squads would be quarantined, impacting emergency response times.
