PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police took a suspect into custody Saturday for armed robbery.
Police were called Saturday night around 7:00 to South Metro Market, 2421 W. Starr St., for a hold-up alarm, according to Public Information Officer Amy Dotson.
“Further information was received that it was actually an armed robbery in progress and the suspect was believed to still be inside the store,” Dotson said.
When officers arrived, they learned that a male with his face covered and armed with a gun entered the business and demanded money from the register.
Police then surrounded the business, established a perimeter, and took 26-year-old Saque Jackson into custody without incident. He was taken to the Peoria Police Department for questioning and arrested for Armed Robbery.
Jackson was transported to the Peoria County Jail. Police did recover a firearm from the scene and there were no injuries.
