PEORIA, Ill. — It’s a boy!
A miracle baby rang in the new decade for parents Leah and Michael Swanson.
Sullivan Swanson was born at 12:21 a.m. New Year’s Day at UnityPoint Health Methodist, weighing 7 pounds, 4.7 ounces.
“We are adoptive parents, we are foster parents, but for the first time we can say we are biological parents. It’s nothing short of a miracle,” Michael said.
His wife, Leah, said they struggled with fertility.
“It took us a long time to have this baby. We did a lot of fertility treatments and IVF (in-vitro- fertilization), so it’s not surprising he came in with a bang on New Year’s Day,” she said.
Michael said it truly reflects how they feel.
“We couldn’t be more excited. There couldn’t be a bigger punctuation, at least for me, the feeling that I saw to see such an amazing and brave woman participate in the miracle of life and have such a beautiful baby boy,” he said.
Sullivan has two older brothers who are 14-months-old and 12-years-old. Leah and Michael said they have so much support from family and friends.
Leah said she hopes that other’s struggling with fertility get their miracle babies.
“It’s worth all the struggle,” she said.
