CUBA, Ill. (WEEK) — According to news partner 25 News, a drunk driving accident just north of Cuba has left three people dead.
The incident happened just around 8:43 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Illinois Route 97 and Route 9, when a vehicle traveling northbound struck another vehicle traveling westbound, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
The northbound vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Pedro Orozco, of Galesburg, allegedly struck a vehicle that was traveling westbound.
The three occupants of the westbound vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle driven by Orozco had two other occupants, all were treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
Orozco was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Also, an occupant of Orozco’s vehicle was cited for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
The incident is still under investigation. The names of those who died are being withheld pending the family being notified.
