(25 News)– The Lake County Sheriff’s Office in California revealed the cause of death of 25-year-old Grant Whitaker, of Mackinaw, was blunt force trauma to the head.
Whitaker was originally reported missing by family members. Sheriff’s deputies say they think he got into a fight with a traveling partner at a campground in Humboldt County, California. On Monday, detectives shared on Facebook that they believe they found his remains after finding his car over the weekend.
Authorities say they got a tip that 21-year-old Mavrick Fisher of Nevada killed Whitaker. The evening of August 25th, the Sheriff’s Office obtained additional information that Fisher had admitted to killing Whitaker and gave detailed directions to Whitaker’s body.
The sheriff’s office says Fisher has been taken into custody in Mexico. Fisher is expected to be booked into custody at the Lake County Jail sometime today on a no bail probable cause warrant.
