Saturday around 10:20 p.m., a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office officer responded to a residence at W. Cottonwood near Hanna City.
Upon arrival, the resident told the officer while she was watching television an hour earlier, she heard a noise on her porch and her dog began to growl at the back door, according to a report.
When she approached the door, she saw what she described as a “white dress shirt with a white t-shirt underneath”. The report states that as she approached the door, the shirt then disappeared.
The woman did not see any facial features, hair, or any physical descriptions. The report said she also did not see a face or head, or anything below the waist.
The officer asked if she wanted to file a report, and she said yes.
The officer advised the woman to set her alarm and call the police if she had any further concerns. The report said that there is no evidence that anyone was on her porch, or her property.
Could it have been a ghost?
Stacey Chandler with the Rural Illinois Paranormal Society said she believes it.
“It’s kind of hard to find a full apparition sometimes,” Chandler said. “They don’t always present themselves that way”.
Chandler said that it takes a lot of energy for a spirit to fully present themselves.
“You will just see an upper torso,” Chandler said.
Chandler also said that spirits can also present themselves as shadows, mists, or a quick movement in your peripheral vision.
