The Peoria City Council gave a unanimously yes vote Tuesday night, for a budget amendment for body armor, that was requested by the Peoria Fire Department.
The budget amendment was approved for about $20,000 for ballistic helmets and vests for the Peoria Fire Department.
The Department asked the city council for a budget amendment to buy EMT’s 20 ballistic vests and 16 helmets for protection in the case of a mass shooting.
Despite recent mass shootings in Texas and Ohio, the request for the vests and helmets, was in the works for several months.
