PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – Fire destroyed a dump truck at an Illinois Department of Transportation maintenance facility west of Peoria on Thursday.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Scott Strum says there was also significant heat and smoke damage to the I-DOT facility and the maintenance yard on W. Rt. 150.
The call came in around 4:50 p.m., with Peoria and Dunlap crews responding.
Firefighters had to force a locked gate at the I-DOT facility open to get to the fire, Strum says.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Damage estimates were not available.
